Lorna & John: Relaxed Spring Wedding at Furtho Manor Farm

As Lorna’s mum is a close friend of mine, when Lorna & John got engaged I was more than happy to suggest some venues when they began their wedding planning and were looking for a chilled-out, rustic vibe for their day. I was so thrilled to hear they booked Furtho Manor Farm and it was such a treat to return there to capture their wedding.

My day started capturing the pre-wedding excitement as the girls got ready at the farmhouse. It was so special capturing people I’ve known for so long on such an important day and they made me feel so welcome! Meanwhile, my second shooter caught up with John and his best man as they greeted guests before the ceremony. It’s always so lovely being able to capture both stories on the morning of a wedding and I know couples love being able to have a little peek into what the other got up to!

The barn was decked out with sheer fabric draped from the ceilings and a beautiful floral arch, providing the perfect backdrop for their vows. Their ceremony was so personal and lovely, with Lorna’s brother walking her down the aisle, readings from their closest friends and the couple exchanging handwritten vows.

A confetti tunnel kicked off the celebrations, followed by drinks and photos on the lawn. It was such a chilled-out, lovely day - exactly what Lorna and John wanted. Dinner was a relaxed affair too, with guests sharing plates of delicious curry for the wedding breakfast, followed by touching speeches. The barn was every bit as rustic and beautiful as they’d imagined with wooden cross-back chairs and eye-catching arrangements of red and white ranunculus, anemones and tulips on the tables.

For a little break from the wedding madness, we went off with Lorna and John to take couple photos and I was so thrilled to find a beautiful white blossom tree to shoot under. It perfectly encapsulated the season they’d chosen to get married in and it was lovely to laugh with them both as they enjoyed a quiet moment together.

Instead of a traditional first dance, Lorna and John opted for a ceilidh band, which was a hit with everyone and made for some fantastic photos. It’s my favourite wedding entertainment and always gets everyone up and dancing!

Seeing Lorna, John and their daughter start this new chapter was such a privilege - I’m so grateful they asked me to capture their day and it’s definitely one that will stay with me for a very long time. Congratulations you two!

To the best ninja photographers in the business.. thank you, we absolutely love them and have enjoyed reliving our wedding/ best day ever with a cuppa and croissant!

Amy & David: Pastel DIY Outdoor Wedding at Furtho Manor Farm

Amy & David's wedding day was a vibrant, sunshine filled day from start to finish and filled with beautiful homemade details everywhere you looked. Furtho Manor Farm was the perfect canvas for their day, with its spacious barn that they draped in fabric, fairy lights and ribbon, and the field by the lake where they held their ceremony.

I just love love loved Amy's elegant bridal style, with her Justin Alexander lace overlay dress and Rachel Simpson shoes she is a girl after my own heart! She walked down the aisle with her dad to two friends playing the guitar and violin, with friends and family sat on haybales all around. Amy & David said their vows in front of a spectacular floral arch, decorated by my favourite florist, The Basement Florist, in hydrangeas and Juliet roses.

Whilst the ceremony took place, guests participated in a ring warming tradition, with Amy & David’s wedding rings being passed around whilst the ceremony took place, to have their rings blessed with the love of friends and family - such a wonderful idea!

I'll always remember this wedding day because their wedding portraits had a bit of an unexpected twist when we found a little frog which had jumped inside Amy's wedding dress whilst we were shooting – it was such a funny moment and I’m so thrilled we were able to capture it before he jumped back into the grass!

The relaxed, fun vibe of their day continued in the sunshine with garden games, a barbecue buffet style wedding breakfast, dancing into the night and bubble guns and mini tipis for the children to play in. My favourite weddings have a real focus on not only celebrating love but being fantastic fun for everybody there, and the wonderful Amy & David achieved this perfectly with their day.

Amy & David, I couldn't be more honoured that you asked me to photograph your beautiful wedding day. I wish you every happiness for the future!

"WOW! They are far more beautiful than we ever expected (although we knew how talented you were!) we love them, can't wait to share them with nearest and dearest. You are truly wonderful - thank you so so much!" - Amy & David
