Gemma & Charles: Summer Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

It’s always a joy to return to Bassmead Manor Barns, and Gemma and Charles’ sunny June wedding was no exception. It was a fab day from start to finish and everyone made us feel so welcome and a part of the day.

My day began capturing Gemma, her bridesmaids and mum getting ready in the boudoir. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and I couldn’t get over how stunning Gemma looked in her St Patrick gown, adorned from head to toe in elegant floral embroidery. To complete her bridal look she carried a vibrant bouquet of purple roses, thistles and astilbe which perfectly complemented Charles’ magenta tie and blue suit.

Their ceremony took place in the beautiful Rickety Barn, surrounded by their loved ones and exchanging vows in front of a stunning floral moongate. It was so lovely to capture the start of this new chapter in their lives together, particularly the emotional hug they shared at the end of their ceremony. Such a heartfelt moment!

Glorious sunshine came down as they left the barn as a newly married couple to confetti thrown by their nearest and dearest, and guests spilled out into Bassmead’s beautiful courtyard as we snuck off for couple photos with the newlyweds.

The barn looked fabulous dressed up for dinner with colourful floral arrangements decorating the tables, with jewel-toned bunting hanged from the beams.

As the evening unfolded, Gemma and Charles surprised everyone with an upbeat choreographed first dance that kicked off the party and we left them all to dance the night away.

Huge love and congratulations to you both and thank you for having us capture your day!

Thank you so much Cat, they are amazing. So many wonderful memories flooding back! We can’t wait to show our friends and family. We hope to see you again soon, maybe at another wedding!

Nicola & James: Joyful Spring Wedding at South Farm, Royston

Although the British weather had other plans for their outdoor ceremony, the short burst of rain on Nicola and James’ wedding day certainly didn’t dampen their spirits and it was such a joy to return to South Farm to capture their fantastic wedding day.

Given that Nicola is a fashion designer, her outfit was every bit as chic as expected! She looked stunning in a beaded Maggie Sottero dress which she paired with a beautiful bouquet of peach and blue flowers by the talented florist Clare Jones.

One of the most emotional moments was when Nicola's dad saw her in her dress for the first time - there wasn’t a dry eye, including mine behind the camera!

The ceremony took place in the Old Dairy, and James's reaction to seeing Nicola walk down the aisle was priceless. It was such a privilege to capture such a joy filled ceremony and it was clear they are just perfect for each other. And with perfect timing, as the ceremony concluded the rain stopped so we could kickstart the celebrations with a confetti shot!

We had so much fun laughing with the two of them as we shot their couple portraits on the tree-lined path to the venue, before they stopped for a cheeky ice cream on the way to their receiving line.

The Tudor Barn looked gorgeous set up for the wedding breakfast, most notably decorated with a personalised Monopoly board on each table, adorned with their names and each property on the board named after places special to them. It was such a unique and personal touch and made for a great talking point amongst their guests!

After cutting their wedding cake, the dance floor buzzed with serious moves and we loved capturing Nicola and James dancing with their friends and family. As I left I couldn’t resist taking the two of them out for one last portrait in the beautiful golden hour, before leaving them to celebrate the night away.

Thank you both so much for having us capture your wedding day. We loved every minute and wish the two of you every happiness!

Thank you so much for everything you did for us on our wedding day. Not only did you capture our day with such beautiful photographs, but you made the day feel so relaxed and comfortable for us. You were also so doting to us with everything we needed and went above and beyond your title as photographer - you even did up Nicola’s dress when her mum couldn’t find her glasses! Thanks for being the best photographer, and our friend.

Annalisa & Matthew: Rustic Autumn Wedding at South Farm, Royston

Annalisa & Matthew's day was the perfect autumn wedding: filled with joy, rich colours and super-cool from start to finish!

First things first, these two are mega stylish. Annalisa looked incredible in a embellished bespoke Catherine Deane dress with her hair in a soft wavy updo. She carried a huge ribbon-tied bouquet of burgundy, soft pink and white roses with wild foliage which matched the maroon bridesmaids dresses perfectly. Matthew and his groomsmen wore a deep blue tweed suit from the Vintage Suit Hire Company, paired with polkadot burgundy tie and a stylish stags head tie pin.

The setting for their day was South Farm in Cambridgeshire, which they decorated it from top to toe in beautiful rich foliage, autumnal florals, candles and moss. And of course with a farm as the setting for their day we couldn’t help but get some photos with the mega cute piglets!

Bride Annalisa also runs a calligraphy business so her work featured on all the place names, invite tags and signage on their gift table and most importantly a beautiful handwritten letter for Matthew to open on the morning of their wedding. In return he gave her her dream calligraphy pen!

Their joyful ceremony took place in the Tudor Barn at South Farm and featured Carrie’s wedding reading from Sex and the City – something I’ve always wanted to hear read at a wedding but somehow I’d not come across it before now!

What I loved the most about Annalisa & Matthew’s day is that they did everything their way regardless of tradition: instead of a groom’s speech they chose to do a speech together, and opted to forego the traditional first dance and instead just got the band to get the party started straight away.

Huge love and congratulations for you both, and thank you for having us capture your fantastic day!

I just want to say a huge thank you for being a part of our wedding. It’s been so lovely getting to know you over the last year, and by the wedding day came along we knew we were in very good hands!

Rita & Adam: Rustic Summer Wedding at South Farm, Royston

As one of my favourite and most visited venues, South Farm is a place close to my heart and it was just lovely to return there for Rita & Adam’s wedding day.

The Old Dairy at South Farm was the setting for their vows, with Rita beaming as she met Adam at the end of the aisle. Their heartfelt ceremony was a real privilege to capture and one that truly reminded me of how special my job is. Cheers erupted as Rita and Adam started their married life through an explosion of confetti thrown by their nearest and dearest, as always in front of the iconic South Farm blue door.

Rita looked absolutely gorgeous in a sequinned strapless dress by Kenneth Winston, and Adam was dapper in a bespoke navy suit by local tailor Souster & Hicks which he paired with a green tie and pocket watch.

The relaxed vibe continued with canapes and drinks in the gardens as they were congratulated by family and friends. Dinner and speeches took place in the Tudor Barn, which looked gorgeous adorned with festoon lights and rustic green and gold table decor.

We couldn’t resist popping out to capture the golden hour, which I always find elevates couples portraits into something that looks nothing short of magical. But for me the highlight of their day that I’ll always remember was the party: as per Italian tradition, Rita & Adam’s family circled them in vibrant coloured streamers as they kicked the night off with their first dance. It was such a unique moment to capture and it’s always the first thing that comes to mind when I think about their day.

Huge love and congratulations to Rita & Adam, I’m so thrilled you asked me to capture your day!

Oh my, we are just speechless! Thank you SO much, you did such an amazing job and we are just in love with them. I don’t know how we’re going to pick which ones we want in an album and framed! We are just over the moon with them.

Claire & Kohei: Romantic Church Wedding and South Farm Reception

Claire and Kohei’s wedding brought me back to South Farm, one of my all time favourite venues that just gets better and better every time I visit! Their sunny day was full of love and emotion and we loved every moment.

We arrived in the morning to photograph them getting ready at the Farm which is always such a calm and lovely place to get ready. I instantly fell in love with Claire’s style, having picked out a delicately embroidered gown by Ellis Bridals which was paired with a bouquet of peonies, dahlias and pops of vibrant pink scabious.

They said their vows at the nearby St John the Baptist church in Royston in front of their nearest and dearest, and started their married life to a joyful confetti moment in the sunshine.

Back at South Farm guests enjoyed ice cream and drinks in the gardens as we sneaked off for photos. I’ve had the pleasure of shooting many weddings at South Farm over the years, but Claire & Kohei’s had a first for me as we headed off in the tuktuk to take photos on a boat in a nearby reservoir. It was such a lovely serene moment away from the wedding madness.

They had their wedding breakfast in the Tudor Barn in front of a pretty backdrop of 1000 origami paper cranes, each one made by hand. It was such a lovely nod to Kohei’s Japanese roots and looked absolutely gorgeous! Another lovely personal touch took place after dinner, with Kohei’s family putting on a little concert for us all in the Old Dairy.

And of course we couldn't resist jumping into the pen for photos with the adorable piglets! It's always the highlight of a South Farm wedding and so much fun to shoot.

Thank you Claire and Kohei for having us capture your day! We wish you both every happiness.

Thank you so so much we LOVE them! You have done such a wonderful job of catching the emotions on our day and there is so much warmth coming for the images. I especially love the ones at the reservoir and tuk tuk but I was also so thrilled at how many wonderful pictures you guys captured of all our guests!
