Helen & Ben: Rustic Summer Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

The beginning of August brought Helen and Ben’s fantastic wedding day, set at Bassmead Manor Barns near St Neots. Their relaxed countryside wedding was filled with beautiful pastel hues and made for the perfect summer celebration surrounded by their favourite people.

My day started with capturing the girls getting ready, buzzing with excitement in their matching floral dressing gowns, each embroidered with their initials in a lovely gift from Helen. She looked radiant in her Rosa Clara dress, which she paired with a summery bouquet of pastel pinks and blues. I loved capturing her dad hugging her after he saw Helen in her dress for the first time - a really lovely moment and one of my favourite photos to this day.

Their ceremony took place in the Rickety Barn, a gorgeous rustic setting adorned with fairy lights twisting around the barn’s beams. They said their vows in front of their nearest and dearest and it was so lovely to see the joy on their parents’ faces as they applauded at the end of the ceremony.

We braved the blustery weather to capture the newlyweds with their friends and family in front of the iconic Bassmead bridge, and then took a little walk around the grounds with Helen and Ben for their couple photos. We had so much fun shooting as they laughed together and enjoyed each other’s company in a little calm moment amidst the wedding madness.

Before dinner guests enjoyed heartfelt speeches, the highlight of which had to be Helen and Ben delivering a speech together in a wonderful break from tradition. In the evening, they had hired a tuktuk for guests to take photos in as a nod to their love of travelling.

The evening celebrations began as Helen and Ben cut their wedding cake: a stack of chocolate brownies topped with a cake painted with delicate cherry blossoms. Their friends and family joined them on the dancefloor to boogie the night away and we left after capturing their fabulous dance moves.

Congratulations Helen and Ben! We loved your day from start to finish and wish you both a wonderful life together.

We just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for photographing our wedding on Saturday. You were amazing battling the winds and making us laugh even though it was a bit of a challenge! Your stamina to keep going and energy was fantastic. You also went above and beyond your role for helping with my dress and the button holes. Thank you! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to others.

Catherine & Michael: Rainy Summer Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

On a rainy July morning, I returned to Bassmead Manor Barns to capture the lovely Catherine and Michael tie the knot. Despite rainy showers coming and going throughout the day, it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and we had so much fun photographing them celebrate this exciting new chapter with family and friends.

The Rickety Barn was the perfect cosy spot for their ceremony, and Catherine looked radiant walking down the aisle in her floaty lace dress, arm in arm with her dad. She carried a summery bouquet by the Flower Story: pink and white roses mixed with lush greenery and white veronicas. Michael stood proudly beside her, both of them all smiles as they said their vows in front of the most important people in their lives.

Guests threw petal confetti as they walked back down the aisle, and joined them for celebratory cocktails in the gardens as the rain stopped with perfect timing. We made the most of the beautiful grounds for their photos, and one of my favourite shots has to be during their couple portraits when the wind suddenly picked up and lifted Catherine’s veil into the air!

Before dinner, guests enjoyed fantastic speeches that had everyone laughing, before enjoying some of the best wedding food in the business! Later, they put up a wall of Krispy Kremes for evening nibbles whilst the venue got everything ready for the evening’s celebrations.

After a joyful cake cut, everyone hit the dancefloor and we loved capturing their moves before leaving them to dance the night away. It was the perfect end to their fantastic wedding day.

Thank you to Catherine and Michael for not only asking us to capture your day but making us feel so welcome too! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.

I’m not exaggerating when I say waking up this morning to see an email from you with the photos felt like Christmas morning!

We’ve just sat with a cup of tea looking through them all, feeling like I could laugh and cry seeing each one. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of your work and feel so grateful that we chose you to capture our day.

Jamie & Rob: Summer Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

Jamie and Rob’s wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns was an absolute joy to photograph! Their gorgeous venue, nestled in the Bedfordshire countryside, is one of my all time favourites and I’m so honoured to be one of their recommended photographers.

They chose soft pastels for their day, with the girls in pale blue dresses, carrying bouquets of seasonal wildflowers by the talented ladies at Flowers at 58, and the groomsmen in matching ties. Jamie looked stunning in a lace and tulle dress by Maggie Sottero, and Rob and the boys looked sharp in their navy suits.

Their wedding ceremony took place in the charming Rickety Barn, a cosy and rustic setting which created an intimate atmosphere to exchange their vows under the beams and fairy lights in front of their closest friends.

Guests showered the newlyweds with confetti before heading to the beautiful gardens of Bassmead for a relaxed drinks reception. The gardens made for the perfect backdrop for photos with their family and friends, and we were thrilled to find lots of beautiful wildflowers in the nearby fields for their couple portraits. It was lovely to give them a quiet moment together amidst the whirlwind of the big day.

The celebrations continued with dinner, followed by speeches that had everyone bent over in laughter, moments which were a complete joy to capture. And as the evening set in, Jamie and Rob took to the dance floor with a choreographed first dance, ending in the highlight of Rob picking Jamie up and spinning her around. Everyone joined them on the dance floor and the photo booth props even made their way into the dancing photos!

Thank you guys for having us capture your wonderful day. A huge love and congratulations to you both!

Thank you SO MUCH for these. We are not posers but you both made us feel at ease and we barely knew you were there. You captured things we weren’t even aware of!

Gemma & Charles: Summer Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

It’s always a joy to return to Bassmead Manor Barns, and Gemma and Charles’ sunny June wedding was no exception. It was a fab day from start to finish and everyone made us feel so welcome and a part of the day.

My day began capturing Gemma, her bridesmaids and mum getting ready in the boudoir. Everyone was buzzing with excitement and I couldn’t get over how stunning Gemma looked in her St Patrick gown, adorned from head to toe in elegant floral embroidery. To complete her bridal look she carried a vibrant bouquet of purple roses, thistles and astilbe which perfectly complemented Charles’ magenta tie and blue suit.

Their ceremony took place in the beautiful Rickety Barn, surrounded by their loved ones and exchanging vows in front of a stunning floral moongate. It was so lovely to capture the start of this new chapter in their lives together, particularly the emotional hug they shared at the end of their ceremony. Such a heartfelt moment!

Glorious sunshine came down as they left the barn as a newly married couple to confetti thrown by their nearest and dearest, and guests spilled out into Bassmead’s beautiful courtyard as we snuck off for couple photos with the newlyweds.

The barn looked fabulous dressed up for dinner with colourful floral arrangements decorating the tables, with jewel-toned bunting hanged from the beams.

As the evening unfolded, Gemma and Charles surprised everyone with an upbeat choreographed first dance that kicked off the party and we left them all to dance the night away.

Huge love and congratulations to you both and thank you for having us capture your day!

Thank you so much Cat, they are amazing. So many wonderful memories flooding back! We can’t wait to show our friends and family. We hope to see you again soon, maybe at another wedding!

Hannah & Nick: Intimate Spring Wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns

Nestled in the Bedfordshire countryside, Bassmead Manor Barns is one of my all-time favourite venues and it was lovely to return there for Hannah & Nick’s wedding day. It was the perfect setting for their intimate celebration, with the Rickety Barn ready for their vows adorned in vibrant wildflowers and fairy lights.

They exchanged heartfelt vows surrounded by their nearest and dearest before starting their celebrations in a shower of petal confetti thrown by joyful guests as they left the barn.

After the ceremony, we wandered the grounds with them and made the most of the beautiful spring blossom for their couple portraits. It was especially lovely to capture their joy not only as newlyweds, but also expectant parents too.

Bassmead’s wedding food is some of the best I’ve ever had, and guests enjoyed a fantastic dinner followed by emotional speeches which we loved capturing. Their night started with a joyful first dance followed by Hannah and her dad dancing a lively jig - a lovely surprise to start the evening’s celebrations.

After sneaking out to take some dramatic night time portraits we left them all to dance the night way. Hannah and Nick, thank you so much for having us capture your wonderful day!

We’ve been recommending you to everyone! You made us feel so at ease at the wedding and you both really fitted into the day, it felt like you two were guests more than photographers! Thank you for helping make our day so special.
