Elisabeth & Simon: Blissful Summer Wedding at Woburn Sculpture Gallery

Elisabeth & Simon’s wedding day started off very close to home for me as the church they married in was less than a 5-minute drive away! It’s always lovely shooting in my home town and their day was of course no exception.

On the run up to the day, I always ask couples about any particular details that are important for us to capture. I’m always a girl for detail photos, but knowing the context is always important and I hear so many wonderful stories as a result! Elisabeth had chosen a beautiful satin Justin Alexander dress with a statement bow on the back for her wedding day, but the most important detail of all was the top she paired with it. She told me that her talented mother had made it from scratch, made from sheer organza adorned with lace. I love touches like this and it made her outfit all the more special.

We headed to St Andrew’s Church in Bedford for their ceremony which featured singing from her choir friends, a truly lovely touch which made it even more joyful and emotional! One of my favourite shots has to be Simon and his dad laughing aloud as they wait for the ceremony to start. It’s always stuck in my mind when I think of this day and it was lovely to see it again whilst choosing photos for this blog post.

The Sculpture Gallery in Woburn Abbey hosted the celebrations for the rest of the day. It’s one of my favourite venues and it was such a joy to return after Alex & Dean’s day just a few months prior. The gallery looked gorgeous with pink roses and white hydrangeas on the tables setting the scene for dinner and speeches later on.

A beautiful golden hour got us out and exploring the gardens after dinner, and as night approached the Pasadena Roof Orchestra took centre stage for Elisabeth & Simon to start the evening celebrations with their first dance.

Thank you both for having us photograph your incredible day! We loved every moment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the Sculpture Gallery opens its doors again one day soon for more magical days like yours.

We are both so happy with our photos, there are so many we will treasure forever. We both loved seeing all the moments from each others mornings as well. They were all absolutely worth the wait and have brought back so many happy memories of our day!

Hannah & Gerard: Summer Outdoor Marquee Wedding in Bedfordshire

Early June gave us Hannah & Gerard’s gorgeous wedding day, and a never ending supply of sunshine to go with it too! With their ceremony at a local church in Silsoe and the reception in a marquee on Gerard’s family farmland, their day was personal and lovely through and through.

Hannah looked gorgeous in her dress which featured eye-catching lace appliqued around the waist, her hair in a chic updo and carrying a bouquet of white peonies, purple roses and clematis. Gerard looked smart in a navy blue wool jacket which he paired with grey chinos and brown boots.

A classic red London bus took Hannah and bridesmaids to the little church in Silsoe where they held their ceremony. Her proud mum walked her down the aisle and I just loved the way she beamed when she met Gerard at the altar.

Their friends and family showered them with confetti as they started their married life, and everyone hopped aboard the bus to head to the marquee.

From homemade signs of their favourite quotes to a cute little basket inviting guests to feed the family sheep, before we’d even got to the marquee it was clear they had thought of every little detail. The marquee was decorated by the fabulous Gemma at The White Emporium, with lilac lanterns hanging from the ceiling and potted lavender and herbs along the tables.

Upon arrival guests enjoyed welcome drinks, canapes and plenty of garden games which were met with lots of enthusiasm. A particularly animated game of tug-of-war brought out everyone's competitive side – well done to Team Bride for clinching the win!

After dinner we enjoyed lots of fantastic speeches, the highlights of course being Hannah’s (I’m always thrilled when a bride does a speech!) and Gerard who kicked his off by shouting into a microphone: “WE’RE F***ING MARRIED!”. Lots of cheers and applause ensued!

The evening celebrations continued with the bride and groom taking to the dancefloor and kicking off the party with an upbeat first dance to a Beatles song. We loved their day from start to finish and it was such a joy to capture. Congratulations Hannah & Gerard and thank you for having us there for the ride!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the photos. They’re amazing and we’re pleased with them. You captured some amazing moments. Thank you thank you.

Hannah & Jack: Spring Micro Wedding at Bedford Town Hall

Sometimes, to have the wedding of your dreams, you have to switch things up a bit and do things differently! In Hannah & Jack’s case this meant getting married at Bedford Town Hall registry office in front of their closest family members before their “proper” wedding the following Saturday. This took care of the legalities so they’d be able to have the ceremony they wanted on the big day: an outdoor celebration officiated by one of Hannah’s brothers in the garden of a countryside home.

I met them outside the hall as they greeted their family members in the spring sunshine before heading inside for their ceremony which was short, sweet and full of smiles. After saying their vows in front of their nearest and dearest, we all took a short walk down to the Embankment for photos alongside the River Great Ouse.

After photos with family, we snuck off for a few minutes to take some joyful couple photos in the sunshine, and shortly after Hannah & Jack headed off to the Embankment Hotel to meet their families for lunch.

It just goes to show that no matter how short the celebration, it’s always a joy having photographs to remember it by! If you’re looking to have a similar registry office wedding, my hourly coverage package is perfect for this. Just pop me an email detailing your plans and I’ll be happy to help!

Hannah & Jack: Springtime Outdoor Wedding in the Berkshire Countryside

One of the best things about my job is being able to reunite with families whose events I have photographed in the past, and this was exactly the case with Hannah & Jack’s wedding. A few years before, I photographed Hannah’s brother Declan’s wedding, and it was just so lovely to see everyone together again for another happy occasion.

Hannah looked gorgeous in a crown of gypsophilia, paired with a show-stopping dress by Rue de Seine, a designer whose creations I had dreamed of photographing for years! Her bouquet was gorgeous and featured an eye-catching white king protea. Jack and the boys looked suave in grey three-piece tweed suits by the Vintage Suit Hire Company.

The venue for their day was a country house nestled in the countryside near Reading. It was the perfect place for a relaxed celebration, starting off with preparations inside the house, followed by a ceremony on the patio and dinner in a stretch tent in the garden.

They said their vows in a ceremony officiated by Hannah’s brother, and started their married life with a joyful confetti run full of smiles and cheers.

Being a crazy flower lady, I just couldn’t resist the field of oxeye daisies for their couple portraits. I’m always keen to give couples a chance to take a step back from the day and catch up with each other, and they did just that as they sat in the daisies for photos.

Dinner proved one of the best wedding meals I’ve ever eaten: a relaxed Mexican buffet by the great Cantina Carnitas. It was the perfect choice for the relaxed vibe of their day, and guests loved the bottles of tequila they had on the table.

After a gorgeous golden hour shoot in a nearby field of buttercups, we photographed some serious dance floor moves and left everyone to party the night away. Congratulations Hannah & Jack! Your day was fantastic and we loved every moment.

WOW!!! Thanks so much for our photos! It was so lovely to have you there with us on our special day. I’m sure we won’t stop looking at them for a good few months to take it all in.

Madeleine & Fintan: Elegant Springtime Wedding at The In & Out Club, London

I love shooting weddings in London when I get the opportunity, and when I do, it always seems to be at members clubs which I absolutely love as they are all so opulent in their own individual and unique ways.

Madeline & Fintan chose The Naval & Military Club (colloquially known as The In and Out Club) as the setting for their wedding day. It was a beautiful, sunny spring day with the blossom in St James’ Park opposite in bloom. Madeleine, her bridesmaids and the mums got ready in a room which overlooked the Club’s courtyard, which was really lovely as they would peek out of the window and see what Fintan and his groomsmen were up to before the ceremony!

With Madeleine as a keen blogger it was no surprise that she has fantastic taste, so I was thrilled to see she had chosen an off-the-shoulder embellished dress by Justin Alexander that I had been dying to shoot ever since I saw that particular style in my friend’s boutique! She paired it with sparkly blue Jimmy Choos and carried a bouquet of pastel pinks and whites by Your London Florist. Fintan looked great in a navy blue suit with a double breasted waistcoat and pastel tie which coordinated perfectly with Madeleine’s flowers.

Their ceremony was held in the King Harald V room, accentuated with vases of white flowers adorning the mantelpiece. With Madeleine’s bridal entrance music played by her brother on guitar, and readings from Fintan’s mum and one of her bridesmaids, it was a lovely and personal ceremony.

Madeleine & Fintan left the Club as a newly married couple to handfuls of pink and white confetti, and we took a little walk by the park to take their couple portraits in front of the springtime cherry blossom. And with such an elegant wedding venue it was only natural that we were going to take their family photographs in front of the fireplace they said their vows in front of just an hour earlier.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Coffee Room, decorated with vases of white spring flowers and candelabras. After funny & heartfelt speeches they kicked off the evening with a beautiful choreographed dance, and with a fantastic DJ, port and cheese and boxes of Krispy Kremes we knew they and their guests were in for a fantastic evening!

Thank you both so much for the opportunity to photograph your day!

Thank you so much for our photos, they’re absolutely incredible! I love how you caught each detail perfectly, it was wonderful to re-live our day through your eyes. Each part of the day, from the preparations, to the ceremony, to the dancing, has been captured in such a soft, beautiful and artistic fashion. The colours and lighting are stunning in each photo, you’re so talented! We’ve shared the photos with our parents and they’re absolutely blown away by how fantastic they are.
