Annabel & Graham: Blossomy Spring Wedding at Quinton House School

Being asked to photograph a wedding is always a huge honour, but it's even more so when the groom is a talented photographer!

What I loved most about Graham & Annabel's day is that they designed it exactly the way they wanted, with a ceremony and intimate drinks reception in the morning at Rushden Park Hall for their closest friends and family before heading to the gorgeous Quinton House School for a humanist ceremony in front of their full set of guests.

Annabel walked down the aisle in the most elegant bespoke wedding dress, carrying a bouquet of ranunculus, freesias and grape hyacinths. I just love the big hall at Quinton House, it's so elegant but small enough to give a ceremony atmosphere. Humanist ceremonies are my favourite – they are so personal and really celebrate not only the love between the two of them but who the bride and groom are as people.

We were blessed with beautiful sunshine and the most abundant cherry blossom trees for their photographs, something I was ridiculously excited to see as we approached the venue in the car. And thanks to Graham & Annabel's special request I got to do something a little different - I brought my medium format camera along with me that day and shot some portraits on it!

Thank you both so much for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful day. I still can't get over the idea of having shot another photographer's wedding!

“Wow! We’re over the moon with our collection of photos - so many more than we imagined! We were up till the early hours of this morning looking through them all and have been at it again this evening! Thanks so much to you both for your hard work. From one photographer to another, I can tell you’ve done an amazing job and I shall be singing your praises for a long time to come.”

Katie & Grant: Intimate Church Wedding at Hengrave Hall

Katie & Grant’s wedding took me to Hengrave Hall in Bury St Edmunds on a beautiful sunny day at the end of March. It’s an absolutely stunning venue with its own little church in the grounds. It was perfect for their day.

Grant looked dapper in a navy suit with polkadot bow tie, and Katie wowed in her lace dress, carrying a bouquet of white and pink roses and hydrangeas. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Katie & Grant shared personal vows which had us all tearing up and lit a candle with their parents to start their new life together.

I was honestly taken aback by the expansive beauty of Hengrave Hall when it came to shooting their portraits - I could have taken portraits all day and not run out of beautiful places to shoot. My favourite was the stunning panelled glass windows in the the banqueting hall.. just beautiful.

After their ceremony, they enjoyed drinks and garden games on the terrace, the perfect end to their short but sweet wedding ceremony. It was such a privilege to photograph your day - thank you so much you two!

Venue: Hengrave Hall

“The photos are absolutely incredible! We can’t thank you enough for capturing our wedding day in such an intimate and beautiful way!”

Amber & Chas: Cornwall Winter Wedding at Polhawn Fort

As outdoorsy people, Chas & Amber's wedding day at Polhawn Fort in Cornwall was just “them” inside and out. The sun shone all day and looking at the landscape in the photos it feels almost tropical at times! On the morning of their wedding, they asked if I would shoot a “first look”, which is a first for me as this is quite unusual for English weddings. Chas & Amber took a quiet 5 minutes to see each other before the ceremony and it was just such a joy to capture this moment between them. I won’t lie that I was tearing up behind my camera!

I couldn’t resist falling in love with Amber’s wedding day look – it was just effortless cool from top to toe: bridal separates paired with show stopping Valentino heels and a leather jacket!

They held their heartfelt, personal ceremony in the fort and exchanged handwritten vows under fairylights, drapery and a succulent floral arch. I loved that they had each brought wellies with them so we could head down to the beach for portraits and make the most of their fantastic venue.

They enjoyed a fish and chip wedding breakfast with ice cream dessert before dancing the evening away to an incredible band. Everybody was up on their feet dancing until well into the night and really embodied the way all wedding receptions should be: a true party between friends and family and a real celebration of their love. Their day was just them, through and through and it was a privilege to photograph. Massive congratulations, you two!

“Cat is an incredibly talented lady - she captured our personalities perfectly. Taking us down to the beach for photos was a very special moment for us, the pictures are beautiful and she snapped away whilst we could talk to one another without being swarmed by our wedding party. Her enthusiasm of travelling all the way to Cornwall and being a part of our wedding made it even more special!”

Zoey & Joe: Cosy winter wedding at South Farm, Royston

From the moment I arrived at their venue, I knew Zoey & Joe's cosy, creative winter wedding was going to be a gorgeous one despite the rain that stopped and started throughout the day! They chose South Farm in Royston for their wedding venue, saying their vows in the intimate setting of the Old Dairy before heading over to the Tudor Barn for their celebrations.

I am completely obsessed with bride Zoey's style - as a graphic designer by day and blogger by night she of course has incredible style, choosing a spectacular beaded Eliza Jane Howell dress paired with Rachel Simpson shoes and soft vintage style waves in her hair for her bridal look. Her bridesmaids donned sparkles too in grey sequinned dresses by Lace & Beads London with faux fur boleros which complimented Zoey's look perfectly.

Zoey carried a beautiful bouquet of anenomes, roses, thistles and eucalyptus by Julie Cambridge, and they decorated the Tudor Barn with travel themed decorations, from a world map table plan, to little paper aeroplane place cards designed by the bride herself and a beautiful dark blue globe on the top table.

We were lucky enough to have a gap in the rain just before sunset, which gave the bride and groom the opportunity to take the venue's tuk-tuk for a spin, before a little portrait session in the beautiful corridor of trees and caravans that South Farm is famous for. And of course a fantastic confetti run too of course!

Congratulations you two and thank you so much for asking us to photograph your day!

They are absolutely stunning - I cannot thank you enough!! The photos are more than we could have ever have hoped for. Absolutely beautiful. We’re so excited to share them with our family and friends.

Elly & Adam: Pretty Pastel Wedding at Dodford Manor

When I've reached my ideal number of wedding bookings for the year, I like to open up my calendar to help other photographers out through second shooting. I love working with Dan at Two-D, it's always great fun and Elly & Adam's day was just that: fun, joyful and vibrant.

Dodford Manor was the setting for their big day, and Elly chose a multicoloured yet pastel theme for the wedding which complimented her beautiful sapphire engagement ring, especially when it came to the pastel rainbow of bridesmaid dresses and beautiful floral arrangements that they decorated their wedding breakfast with.

Elly chose a beautiful, elegant Maggie Sottero dress and I just love the delicate lace and scoop back. She carried a stunning pastel bouquet by Fleurette of peonies, succulents and of course, Eleanor roses!

They said their vows in the barn and left under showers of rose petals thrown by their loved ones. They were blessed with spectacular sunshine and as their guests enjoyed the bouncy castle and garden games whilst we snuck off for photos in the grounds of Dodford Manor.

Everybody enjoyed afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast and Elly & Adam cut a towering sponge cake before starting their evening with a heartfelt first dance. Congratulations you two!

Second shooting for Two-D Photography.
