Elly & Tom: Autumn Engagement Shoot on Bedford Embankment

After the madness of wedding season, I find autumn to be such a wonderful time of year for engagement shoots and Elly and Tom’s engagement shoot was a great reminder of why. We took to the Embankment to capture their engagement, a quintessential Bedford spot and one of my favourite places to shoot.

Elly and I had known each other for a while through Bedford’s vibrant creative community, so it was great to finally meet her fiancé Tom who I’d heard all about! They make such a wonderful couple and I had so much fun capturing their excitement as we walked along the River Great Ouse. It was lovely chatting all things wedding and it was impossible not to get caught up in their excitement for the big day.

Beautiful sunshine brought out all the rich autumn colours along the river, and I just loved how Elly and Tom wore matching Vans which brought their own personal style to the shoot and looked fab against the fallen leaves.

Two years later their fabulous wedding took me back to South Farm for a sunflower-filled autumn celebration, but that’s another post for another time!

Eilis & Tom: Riverside Engagement Shoot near Leighton Buzzard

As I look back on early 2020, it’s so bizarre remembering these shoots as we went along as normal before the world changed forever in March when the lockdowns started. One of these was Eilis and Tom’s engagement shoot, which took place in late February.

They suggested a cosy riverside pub in Leighton Buzzard which proved the perfect spot to capture their excitement and get to know them before their wedding later that year.

I’m never one to insist on engagement shoots but they really are a wonderful way to learn all about a couple and their story so far that has led to this exciting chapter of their lives. It was clear these two are just perfect for each other and it was lovely to hang out and share in the excitement and anticipation of their big day. Despite the typical British cloudy weather, we made the most of it (us photographers love overcast days!) and grabbed some lovely shots as we walked along the river.

Just as our shoot was finishing up a spot of rain caught us off guard, but as a blessing in disguise it rewarded us with these last dramatic shots with the two of them sat in the cosy pub window light - perfect for capturing a shot of Eilis’s gorgeous engagement ring.

Thank you so much! After COVID cancelled our honeymoon we have both been feeling a bit deflated and the photos have cheered both of us up! They are exactly the kind of style we wanted and knew we would get from you, so thank you for your hard work!

Emma & Jak: Autumn Engagement Shoot in Suffolk

I was so excited that Emma and Jak chose October for their engagement shoot as it’s one of my absolute favourite times of year to shoot. Those beautiful autumn colours create the perfect backdrop and I’ve always had soft spot for warm photos.

We met in the charming Suffolk village of Lavenham, a location they chose as it holds lots of happy memories for them. It’s always lovely being able to incorporate a sentimental location into an engagement shoot and I loved exploring it with them throughout our time together that day.

A nearby woodland brought those autumn colours into their photos, and it was wonderful hearing about their wedding plans as we walked along, big plans and little details alike.

Emma and Jak, thank you for a fantastic shoot and for sharing such a special place with me. I can’t wait to photograph your wedding and see where your journey takes you next!

They are amazing! Thank you so much. We are looking forward to getting some printed for around the house!

Courtenay & Olly: Autumn Engagement Shoot in Bedfordshire

Autumn is one of my favourite times of year to shoot, particularly as we approach November as the trees provide us with such warm and vibrant backdrops for photos! Courtenay & Olly’s engagement shoot took me back to Chicksands Woods in Bedfordshire, and it was just the perfect place to capture their love amongst the autumn colours.

It’s always special to have the opportunity to meet up before a couple’s big day, and I loved chatting with them about their engagement and wedding planning between shots. They looked so cosy in their Barbour jackets and they were all smiles as we walked through the rust-coloured ferns. It felt like just going for a walk with friends and that’s how I always want my shoots to feel!

Despite a few reschedules due to COVID, their wedding day proved to be just as fantastic as I had expected and it was such a joy to capture from start to finish. I look forward to sharing it in a future post soon!

Thank you! The photos are amazing - we love them. I am already excited to see our wedding photos!

Marc & Ben: Countryside Engagement Shoot in Northamptonshire

With their wedding set for the following year, Marc and Ben asked if we could capture some engagement photos and of course I said yes! We decided to make the most of our time together, so on a beautiful spring day we met up at Plum Park in Northamptonshire to combine both shooting their engagement photos and having a little venue visit at the same time too.

April provided us with a beautiful backdrop of blossom to shoot against, and it was lovely to get to know them both and capture their love amid the wedding planning excitement. Although Marc and I have known each other for many years, we hadn’t seen each other in over a decade so it was lovely to finally meet his partner Ben and hear all about their story as a couple.

As I left the shoot I thought, if their engagement shoot is anything to go by, their wedding at Plum Park is going to be absolutely wonderful! Congrats you two and I can’t wait to blog about the big day itself very soon.
